A Milestone Merger for New Zealand’s Hotel Industry

Marsden Group has merged with Capstone Hotel Management, creating New Zealand’s largest locally owned hotel management platform.

Together, we now operate a nationwide network of more than 40 properties. This partnership brings together Marsden Group’s financial strength and hospitality investment portfolio with Capstone’s well-established expertise in third-party hotel management. As a result, the group is well positioned to pursue targeted acquisitions, expand management agreements, and develop new partnerships with confidence.

The combined group operates across five brands: Marsden Hotels and Resorts, Ramada, Wyndham Garden, Microtel by Wyndham, and Capstone Hotels and Resorts. With national sales capabilities, a unified revenue management system, and stronger procurement advantages, we have a solid foundation for long-term, sustainable growth.

The group is led by Chief Executive Officer Sajad Bassam, with Capstone Founder Clare Davies serving as Chief Operating Officer. Clare also holds an equity stake and has board representation across both organisations.

This marks an important milestone for New Zealand’s independent hotel sector, and we look forward to building a strong future together!

This merger is a strong example of how combining resources and expertise can create something much bigger and more competitive than before. It’s a bit like Slope 2 where everything starts simple, but as speed and complexity increase, you have to adapt quickly and stay focused to keep progressing without losing control.

Thanks for sharing this. It is always nice to see people discussing in a simple and easy-to-follow way. I have been playing geometry dash lately, and the fast gameplay, obstacle patterns, and music synchronization make every level feel exciting and rewarding to complete.
